How to Make An Outfit Look More Expensive
Learning how to make an outfit look more expensive has nothing to do with the cost of your outfit. It’s all about the way you pair colors together, how you style your look and following a few simple fashion styling tips to elevate your outfit.

You don’t have to spend lots of money on an outfit in order to look expensive. Remember Dolly Parton’s famous saying – “it costs money to look this cheap?” It isn’t about the price you pay, it is all about knowing how to dress yourself. Here are my professional styling tips on how to do just that!

How to Make An Outfit Look More Expensive
It isn’t important how much money you have spent on your clothes and accessories, but rather how you style them. So in order to make your outfits look more expensive, follow these handy styling tips:

- It has to be black, beige or white: an outfit that is all black, beige or all white always looks classy. As long as your clothing is dirt, dust, crease and stain free (for whites especially), you will always look ultra classy dressed in these neutral shades. This is also a timeless trick too! Pick up a lint roller and a clothes steamer to make the job easier for you!
- Perfect and polish your hair, makeup and nails. Even if you are wearing casual clothing, your appearance overall will look far more classy and expensive if you have neat and tidy makeup, hair and nails (nails are optional). Makeup wipes are a lifesaver when you’re on the go or short on time!
- Avoid patterns – patterns only make an outfit look more fashionable and trends change. The majority of people never spend a lot of money on fashion trends, including patterned garments, which is one of the reasons why patterns and prints never look highly expensive.
- Avoid looking like a walking billboard. This is where the quiet luxury trend originates from. Even if every item in your wardrobe is designer, avoid dressing head to know in clothing and accessories that are heavily labeled with their brand names. Despite the fact that you may well have spent thousands of pounds on each item, going overboard with labels can sometimes devalue the look of your outfit.
- Opt for plainer clothing in non-neon, non-florescent and colors which are not overly bright. For e.g. choose a shade like burgundy over fire engine red, opt for rose pink over bubble gum pink, mustard over sunshine yellow.
- Keep your clothes in good condition. Use a lint roller on your clothing to remove any hair or dust, shine your shoes and keep your handbags shiny, clean and in good condition too.
- Do not match the color of all of your accessories. If you would like to match your accessories then match your lipstick color to either your shoes or your handbag.
- Stick to classy and plain jewellery, especially gold, rather than statement fashion pieces. This gold watch looks really expensive, but actually costs less than $70!
- Make sure that your clothes are tailored and fit you properly – not too tight or too baggy. If it doesn’t – get it tailored. Also, be observant of lengths too; try not to go for super short skirts, low-cut tops or tiny shorts.
- Add a tailored belt to help certain garments fit better and to make your outfit appear well tailored, stylish and sophisticated.
